We raced at Lake Natoma this weekend, my only head race of the year, since all the other races fall on Sundays!
Beautiful day: warm and still, flat water, great teammates and boats. Deirdre gave us a good talk about head racing; since you're racing the clock (and hopefully chasing down other boats and fending off others), you have to think "what can I do right now" even when there is no other soul (or crew) around you.
Isn't this such good advice for the spiritual life, to be at the same time working with others and thinking "what can I - me, myself - do RIGHT NOW?" Sounds like something Jesus could have said. It was very inspirational to me. And we came in second (in the women's 8) and first (in the open mixed 8). A great day!
