In the scriptures, we hear quite often about the disciples who would put out and row...across the sea, out to catch fish, off to deliver their teacher to a new town...there are lots of rowing stories in the New Testament.
My question is, did those ol' disciples ever get in their boat and just enjoy cranking on that oar? Letting out their frustration, their hurt, their pent-up energy? I like to think they did, although since it was a major form of transportation and not a sport, perhaps I am morphing time and place. Still, I like to think that aspect of rowing has not changed.
I've had a hard week. And this morning, was it GREAT to get in the five seat and just crank on that oar until I thought my legs were going to fall off. How big a puddle could I make, how many strokes could I get my weight off my seat, how much could I contribute to my boat. It made me feel strong. And remember why I love rowing so much.
