Since we are "between coaches" these days, a few of us have been assigned "launch duty." It sounded fun, racing up and down the ferry channel with our eights and fours, shouting encouragement through the megaphone, having a chance to watch our teammates really working hard.
Well, it is NOT fun. It is completely terrifying. We're talking constant heart attack terrifying. From the launch, it appears that every coxswain is steering into every pylon, that every ferry is going to wake every one of our shells, that every oncoming boat is going to come onto our side of the course.
A new view. A new way of seeing things. From a different angle. This new view wakes us up, shakes us,turns us upside down. And makes us come back again and again for a glimpse of the new world view. Isn't this what glimpsing the holy can sometimes be like????
