Special Olympics Blessing

These past couple of weekends I have been privileged to volunteer with our Learn to Row days for Special Olympic athletes. Tim, Jeffrey, Maggie, Patrick, John Paul and Dana, along with a bunch of Marin Rowing Association folks, will join together for a culminating regatta next Saturday.

As I am preparing to preach tomorrow on one of my favorite passages from Scripture, Jacob wrestling with God and insisting on a blessing, I have these amazing athletes in mind. While we "able" people might think of developmentally disabled people as somehow wounded when we first meet them, as we encounter them in the fullness of their being, we understand what an amazing blessing they are to us. I need to continue working on my preaching, but I had to post this picture I was sent from last week. Nita and Maggie are both so obviously blessed by their time together.
