I remember racing one year at the San Diego Crew Classic when my friend Beth had just turned 55. We went for our (then) large pre-race breakfast, and Beth ordered, and received, "the senior special"...probably a Big Slam at Denny's.
Well, these many years later, and I'm turning fifty this year, and I've just received my AARP card. I saw the envelope in the mail box and 1) laughed 2) thought "there's a mistake here and 3) realized that we still believe that 50 is "old." Fortunately for me, I'm feeling strong, happy to be turning 50 and....I tossed the AARP letter in the recycling bin. Let them ask me when I'm REALLY old! ;)
