sunset from the hilltop...amazing!
I love sunsets and will stop my car almost anywhere to watch one. Last night, as I could see the sky starting to glow, I stood on our church hill and watched the sky turn from pastel to fire in the course of about fifteen minutes. Because we have an unobstructed almost 180 degree view towards the west, it is like standing on the edge of the world. I am also attracted to bright color, so the intensity that came over us almost took my breath away.
It's good for me, when I get grumpy about being inside all day, having to do all the work that somehow has got to get done, to remember these snippets of God's creation that enter my life unbidden and unwarned and give me such a boost spiritually. I share them here in the hope that they will give someone else a boost too. The skies in Northern California have been lighting up morning and night these last days, and I give great thanks to live here and to have recaptured my "photographer's third eye" which I had put away for so many years.
